The Dances of Universal Peace

These dances invoke all traditions and honors all wisdom paths. We will be singing and dancing and embodying these moving Prayers. We move around the circle, sometimes from partner to partner, allowing our thoughts to fall away as we experience the Divine in each other and ourselves.

Murshid Sam, in the 1960's, brought forward the Dances, to awaken the hearts and minds of his Sufi students and create an ecstatic experience of unity. He was influenced by his dance teacher Ruth St. Dennis and his Sufi Teacher, Hazrat Inayat Khan who brought Sufism to the west in 1914.
